Anna Kowalik
Designated Safeguarding Lead Kindergarten Coordinator
Ritika Gupta
Deputy DSL and South Campus Office Administrator
My name is Anna Kowalik, and for 14 years I have passionately worked as a preschool and early school teacher. My professional journey is a story of continuous development, seeking the best teaching methods, and building a safe and supportive educational environment. I was born in Poland, where my love for education and working with young children was born. I studied in Poland and Ireland, which allowed me to understand different educational systems and combine their strengths.
I began my professional career in Dublin, where I worked with children in an international environment for 6 years. For the past 8 years, I have been associated with the American School of Wrocław, currently serving as the preschool coordinator and a preschool teacher. I believe that every child is unique and develops their potential best in an atmosphere of acceptance, respect, and joy in discovering the world. As the DSL Lead, I oversee the implementation and adherence to safety protocols, supporting the teaching staff and collaborating with parents.
Ritika Gupta holds a degree in Architecture along with specialisation in Interior Design. She spent 10 years working in the corporate sector and gained extensive experience in managing, coordinating and training people and multidisciplinary teams. These responsibilities helped strengthen her emotional intelligence and confidence in handling complex situations—competencies that now support her work as a Deputy DSL.
With her background in people management, she transitioned to the education sector 5 years ago. Having worked in both Indian and Polish educational settings, she has developed a broader perspective on student wellbeing and safeguarding practices, further enhancing her ability to respond effectively to diverse situations. For the past 2 years, she has been part of the American School of Wrocław community. In her current role, she works closely with students, staff, parents, and external agencies to implement safeguarding procedures, ensure student wellbeing, and maintain a safe and supportive school environment.
Students at American School of Wrocław are kept safe by a clear and comprehensive child protection and safeguarding policy which outlines procedures for identifying, reporting, and addressing any concerns.
Physical safety measures
Students are protected by CCTV in key areas, visitor sign-in and ID checks, trained staff, and designated Safeguarding Leads. Clear emergency procedures and regular drills ensure safety across campus.
Online safety measures
Our school uses filtered internet access, secure logins, firewalls, and antivirus software. Online platforms are monitored, and all personal data is stored securely with strict usage policies.
Personal safety and wellbeing initiatives
Students benefit from anti-bullying workshops, safeguarding awareness weeks, and conflict resolution activities. Staff are trained in restorative practices, fostering empathy, inclusion, and positive relationships.
